The Ludmer program in association with The Ukrainian Jewish Encounter Initiative (UJEI), The Chais Center of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Israel Culture Centers in Ukraine launched an academic program aimed to introduce Jewish studies in Ukraine universities. The goal of the program is to expose students of the Humanities to the Jewish culture throughout the generations. An emphasis is drawn to the History of Ukrainian Jewry, their contribution to world culture and their relations with the non-Jewish surrounding. The Ludmer program focuses on those aspects of Jewish legacy that are specific for Galicia and Bukovina.
As part of the program Israeli scholars of different fields in Jewish studies deliver lecture courses in the most important Ukrainian universities. These seminars are part of the university curricula and grant the students academic credits.
