Bohorodczany. Rabbi Pinhas Horwitz, son of the Rabbi of Tysmenitsa Shaul Horwitz was elected in those days to be the rabbi of our community instead of the late gaon, famous Hovev Zion, Rabbi Faivel Schreier, of blessed righteous memory. The Zionists are very happy, because our town succeeded to purchase a rabbi, worth to fulfil the place of the late rabbi; Rabbi P. Hurvitz is also a Hovev Zion, in addition to his knowledge in the Torah and wideness of his understandings. In his preach, which he preached here showed the love for Zion. On Sunday, parashat Va-eyhi [25 December 1898] he eulogized our late rabbi and the Tzadik from Siniawa and praised the activities of the first one for the sake of the settlement in the Land of Israel. He also pledged a donation of 200 R.Kh to our Zionist association.
