Son of R. Eliezer Zeev (d. 1944) of Kretshnef (Crăciuneşti, Karàcsonfalva in Romania) and the grandson of Rabbi Meir (1852-1908) of the Kretshnef branch of the Nadworna dynasty (on Kretshnef Hasidic dynasty see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kretshnif_(Hasidic_dynasty) ).
Rabbi Nisan Haim Rosenbaum was the rabbi of Bohorodczany in the early 1920s, later moved to Drohobycz (Alfasi, 1:84, no. 63; M. Hasten, Mark My Words, 6-7).
